Unexplained Sites Discovered in Africa
Everyone knows about so called Nasca Lines. The high desert of Peru holds one of the most mystifying monuments of the known world—the massive-scale geoglyphs known as the Nasca Lines. Ranging from geometric patterns to “drawings” of different animals and stylized human-like forms. The ancient lines can only be truly taken in, their forms discerned, from high in the air, leaving generations mystified as to how these precise works could’ve been completedlong before the documented invention of human flight. Are the lines signs left by an alien race? Landing strips for UFOs? Relics of a ancient people far more advanced then we could imagine and capable of human flight?

It turns out that there are many mysterious locations in Africa that call for explanation. In this article we present eclectic selection of satellite photos (Google Earth) of many such places. Google Earth images contain location information in bottom right corner. Note: some of these sites are likely ancient, others might be modern (perhaps military installations?). Please send us your comments (especially if you can identify specific location as ancient or modern) and locations of other interesting sites you know about.

This selection goes beyond Afirca (and some of these images go even beyond our planet)… Google Earth images contain location information in bottom right corner.

What makes it intriguing is that it resembles Valles Marineris on Mars (below).
What makes it intriguing is that it resembles Valles Marineris on Mars (below).
The “Grand Canyon of Mars” Valles
Marineris that slices across the Red Planet near its equator, could this
odd looking canyon caused by a ancient stellar super-weapon?
Valles Marineris is a system of canyons that runs along the Martian surface east of
the Tharsis region. At more than 4,000 km (2,500 mi) long, 200 km (120
mi) wide and up to 7 km (23,000 ft) deep, the Valles Marineris rift
system is one of the larger canyons of the Solar System, surpassed only
by the rift valleys of Earth and (in length only) by Baltis Vallis on
Venus.Valles Marineris is located along the equator of Mars, on the east side of the Tharsis Bulge, and stretches for nearly a quarter of the planet’s circumference. It has been recently suggested that Valles Marineris is a large tectonic “crack” in the Martian crust. Most researchers agree that this formed as the crust thickened in the Tharsis region to the west, and was subsequently widened by erosion. However, near the eastern flanks of the rift there appear to be some channels that may have been formed by water or carbon dioxide.
Made by Nature: Giant Causeway
The Giant’s Causeway is an area of about 40,000 interlocking basalt columns, the result of an ancient volcanic eruption.
It is located in County Antrim on the northeast coast of Northern Ireland, about three miles (4.8 km) northeast of the town of Bushmills. It was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986, and a National Nature Reserve in 1987 by the Department of the Environment for Northern Ireland. In a 2005 poll of Radio Times readers, the Giant’s Causeway was named as the fourth greatest natural wonder in the United Kingdom. The tops of the columns form stepping stones that lead from the cliff foot and disappear under the sea. Most of the columns are hexagonal, although there are also some with four, five, seven or eight sides. The tallest are about 12 metres (39 ft) high, and the solidified lava in the cliffs is 28 metres thick in places.

Made by Nature: African Dunes
In physical geography, a dune is a hill of sand built either by wind or water flow. Dunes occur in different forms and sizes, formed by interaction with the flow of air or water. Most kinds of dunes are longer on the windward side where the sand is pushed up the dune and have a shorter “slip face” in the lee of the wind. The valley or trough between dunes is called a slack. A “dune field” is an area covered by extensive sand dunes. Large dune fields are known as ergs. Although the most widely distributed dunes are those associated with coastal regions, the largest complexes of dunes are found inland in dry regions and associated with ancient lake or sea beds.Dunes also form under the action of water flow (alluvial processes), and on sand or gravel beds of rivers, estuaries and the sea-bed.
